Case Study: Fibre Optic Installation, Marylebone, London.

One of our more recent projects involved the installation of a fibre optic cable network as well as a host of ancillary services for an office in Marylebone, London.

The project involved:

Installation of a 12-core OM4 link between office floors.

The fibre optic cable we installed had 12 individual fibres (cores) that use OM4 (Optical Multimode 4) technology, designed for high-speed data transmission over shorter distances.

This provided each of the floors with unparalleled connectivity and was perfect for this type of environment and the client’s needs.

Installation of a New Data Cabinet to House Large UPS and 34 new Cat6 Data Points.

The nerve centre of the network, the installation of a new cabinet allowed us to install a large UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), which provides backup power in case of a power outage as well as 34 new Cat6 data points.

The use of Cat6 (Category 6) cabling not only future-proofed the network, but one of the main benefits is that they support data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps (gigabits per second) over shorter distances (up to 55 meters), which is significantly faster than older Cat 5e cables (which max out at 1 Gbps). This higher speed is beneficial for high-bandwidth applications and services and ideal for our client.

Installation Wi-Fi access points

In addition to the cabling points above, we also installed seven WiFi access points across the property giving employees a fast, secure connection when not hard-wired to the network.
